MAERSK SAYS NEW 18,000 TEU VESSELS WILL NOT AFFECT CAPACITY...

Maersk Says New Mega Ships Won't Flood Market

Says 18,000 TEU ships won't become the new standard on Asia-Europe lane

Maersk Line doesn’t expect the 20 giant new container ships it has ordered to flood the market, nor does it expect the ships to become the new standard on the Asia-Europe trade lane, Reuters reported.

The world’s largest container line will receive the first of the 18,000 20-foot container equivalent unit ships in July 2013 and the last in mid-2015. Some analysts warn the vessels, known as Triple-E ships, could flood the market, especially on the Asia-Europe trade where they will be deployed.

"Generally, it will be only very few companies who will go for these ships," Soren Andersen, head of Maersk's vessel management team, told a conference in Copenhage. "I don't see a new industry standard emerging."

Andersen said this was because "money was harder t…

Arrivals through the port of Houston for September 25, 2011, continue to reveal an under utilized route to the west coast USA for Brazil mango shippers.

Once again, Hamburg Sud called on the port of Houston, Texas on it's weekly schedule. This time it was vessel CAP SAN MARCOS delivering only two containers, one each for Coast Tropical and CABEFRUIT.

Each container was shipped by SECCHI AGRICOLA from the port of Bahia/Salvador with 5,544 (4kg) cartons of mangoes.

Coast Tropical and CABEFRUIT appear to have the Texas distribution channel all to themselves so far this season.

While not much mention has been made in the press, it appears from a recent price sheet that Israel is expecting a unique KEITT crop this season.

A recent post on tacler.com caught the eye of the IMO.

A European importer is offering Israeli KEITT mangoes in three pallet configurations; 228, 252, and 256 (4kg) cartons per pallet.

The telling information is that sizing for KEITT mangoes from Israel is running a full and unusual gamut from standard larger fruit (size 4-6) some (size 7,8,9 & 10s) and very unusual for a KEITT mango, majority in the 12 & 14 range.

Why does the IMO make this conclusion?

Take a look at Price List:

SIZE 4..............................4.00 euro

SIZE 5...............................4.25 euro

SIZE 6...............................4.50 euro

SIZE 7...............................5.50 euro

SIZE 8...............................5.50 eu…
