The first Ataulfo mangoes are in the marketplace with prices as high as $16.00 per (4kg) carton on 14 count fruit in the Toronto terminal market in Canada.

FOB pricing at the Texas border was in the $12.00 range for larger Ataulfos with smaller fruit in the $10.00 range.

Pricing will stay at this level until volume begins to pick up in the next week or so.

Most major importers expect the Chiapas deal to kick off officially around the 15th of February.

In the meantime, it is "catch as catch can" in the marketplace.

Unfortunately, retailers are not interested at these prices and it is very difficult to build up ad business with chainstores.
