By Laura Elliott.

Walmart-owned supermarket chain Asda is currently attempting to improve its supply chain’s efficiency and increase corporate sustainability, by launching a peer-to-peer exchange scheme. The Asda Sustain & Save Exchange, hosted by the business community 2degrees, has reportedly been created to help the retail chain explore new ways of collaborating with its suppliers

“We have defined a holistic 360 approach to sustainability for the global Walmart family, which includes our suppliers, the communities in which we operate, our operations and our customers,” said Julian Walker-Palin, head of corporate sustainability, Asda.

He also explained that the company’s sustainability aims include being supplied by 100% renewable energy, to create zero waste, and to sell products which will sustain both people and the environment.
