FLORIDA MANGO FARM ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF THE "LOCAL" MOVEMENT ....

On the shores of the big lake— Erickson fruit operation: taking a contrarian approach

THE ERICKSONS, Kim, Dale, and Krista, in one of their Canal Point, Fla., groves.

Nestled along Lake Okeechobee’ssoutheastern edge, the Ericksons farm in the midst of some of the world’s best soil for growing sugar cane and winter vegetables. So, why do they focus their efforts on fruit — and rather unusual fruit, at that?

As Dale Erickson sees things, it boils down to achieving efficiencies on the family’s land at Canal Point, Fla.

“Why grow the same thing on 60 acres that somebody just down the road is growing on thousands of acres?” he says.

With their comparatively small acreage, the Ericksons choose not to compete with the area’s traditional crops. Rather, they stick to higher value, intensive management crops and personally handle the marketing.

Their plan succeedswellenough that the family’s fourth generation of south Florida farmers now works enthusiastically on the…

MANGO SEASON IN MUMBAI: Madhuri Dixit devours mangoes! ...

Last Updated: Thursday, May 03, 2012, 14:28

Mumbai: Actress Madhuri Dixit, who has settled back in Mumbai after a sabbatical from Bollywood, is gorging on Alphonso mangoes.

"It is mango season in Mumbai. Had forgotten how good the hapoose amba (Alphonso mango) could be," tweeted Madhuri.

The 44-year-old was perhaps missing the taste of local mangoes as she had shifted to Denver after marrying US-based surgeon Sriram Nene. Now she is back in Mumbai for good with her husband and two children - Arin, nine and Raayan, seven.

She has already signed two films – ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ and ‘Gulab Gang’.

Vishal Bhardwaj`s ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ is a sequel to Vidya Balan`s 2010 film ‘Ishqiya’, while Anubhav Sinha`s ‘Gulab Gang’ will see her playing a female gangster.

She will also be seen as a judge in the next season of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, a celebrity dance reality show, which will be aired on Colors instead of Sony this time.

Technology promises to increase production by as much as 40 to 400 % ....

Thank you for connecting on LinkedIn.

FarmAll Technology is at the forefront of crop production technology.

We have developed a crop production process, named “Paradoxical Agriculture” that saves 70% purchased input while production is increased from 40 to 400% depending upon the benchmark used for a comparison. This process is outcome of unification of SRI/SCI (System of Rice/Crop Intensification), CA (Conservation Agriculture) and OF (Organic Farming).
Cornell University is a leading university in Agriculture Research and Development, we associated with Cornell, you may see our work on their official websites at the following links:

We developed MSRI on raisedbeds, a rice production process to grow rice in a moist soil in place of water inundation. With this development we are able to save over 70% water while yield is increased over 40% on an average. See pictures below:

We shall be looking forward to as…
