NO!

Fuerza y Fe!!!"

WHOLEFOODS COMMITTED TO "YELLOW SKINNED" MANGOES ...

Madly in Love with Mangoes

By Jess Kolko, March 12, 2013

I’m a total produce nerd and keep close tabs on fruits and veggies as they move in and out of season.

As the Sumo tangerine of late winter becomes a fruit of the past, here comes the Ataulfo mango to remind us that warmer weather is right around the corner.

April is mango madness time around here and I’m glad every year for its lively – albeit short lived – season!

Here are some of my favorite facts and tips to get the most out of mango season.

A burst of nutrients: Phytochemicals, antioxidants and vitamins, oh my! Mangoes have a bunch of awesome plant nutrients. A big burst of Vitamin C is available in each fruit, as well as a good dose of fiber and Vitamin A. Don’t forget beta-carotene, which gives mangoes their yellow-orange coloring. Fresh or frozen mango adds a burst of sweetness to savory dishes and desserts and gives you a nutrient boost, too.

VISION PRODUCE FORECASTS BUMPER MEXICAN MANGO CROP FOR 2013 ...

Vision Produce uses rare model to increase Mexican production

by Tim Linden | March 12, 2013

The three arms of Vision Produce Co. launched a new mango program a year ago, and this year it is paying dividends.

Ben Brittain, executive vice president of the Texas arm, which goes by the moniker Vision Produce Partners of Texas, is anticipating a 30 percent increase in Mexican mango volume this year.

He said the companies, which include Vision Produce Co. in Los Angeles and Vision Import Group in River Edge, NJ, have their own buyers and quality-control people in place in Mexico to implement the model.

“Most U.S. importers buy their fruit from the sheds,” said Mr. Brittain. “We deal directly with the growers.”

In essence, Vision contracts with the packingsheds to pack the fruit that the company has already purchased from the grower.

India prepares for start of new mango season

Tuesday March 12 2013

INDIA is gearing up for its new mango season.

FOODNEWS has received conflicting reports about the state of the Alphonso crop in the south of the country, while the outlook for Totapuri is generally acknowledged to be bright.

According to one FOODNEWS source in the country, the Alphonso crop in the south is reportedly poor and fruit prices are expected to be around INR25-28 per kilo (equivalent to USD460-515 per tonne) while the crop in the west is expected to be good, and the fruit correspondingly cheaper.

Another source reckoned that the crop would be good in both the south and the west.

Organic Alliance Ships First Organic Mangoes From Orchards In Mexico ...

by Organic Alliance, Inc.
Posted: 2013-03-12 08:49:42 EST

SALINAS, Calif. -- Organic Alliance, Inc., a global grower and marketer of fresh, organic and Fair Trade fruits and vegetables, today announced that it had shipped its first container load of Organic Tommy Atkins and Ataulfo Mangos from Company-leased orchards in Mexico.

This announcement further demonstrates the Company's commitment to implement its business strategy to vertically integrate its supply chains, and own and control sources of production to increase revenue and profit margins while reducing risk.

Organic Alliance, Inc. also noted that it had received organic certification on its leased mango orchards in February 2013, after three months working to develop the Organic production plan and identify organic non-toxic pesticides and herbicides for the mango groves.

Due to Organic Alliance, Inc.'s greater degree of control, they were able to be the first U.S. produce company to import Mexican Organic Mangoes in 20…

STRATFOR ANALYSIS: Considering a Departure in North Korea's Strategy ...

March 12, 2013 | 0900 GMT

Stratfor

By George Friedman
Founder and Chairman

On Jan. 29, I wrote a piece that described North Korea's strategy as a combination of ferocious, weak and crazy.

In the weeks since then, three events have exemplified each facet of that strategy.

Pyongyang showed its ferocity Feb. 12, when it detonated a nuclear device underground. The country's only significant ally, China, voted against Pyongyang in the U.N. Security Council on March 7, demonstrating North Korea's weakness.

Finally, Pyongyang announced it would suspend the armistice that ended the Korean War in 1953, implying that that war would resume and that U.S. cities would be turned into "seas of fire."

To me, that fulfills the crazy element.

My argument was that the three tenets -- ferocity, weakness and insanity -- form a coherent strategy. North Korea's primary goal is regime preservation. Demonstrating ferocity -- appearing to be close to being nuclear capable -- makes other co…
