South Africa looking to expand mango export ...

The South African mango season will most likely finish earlier than normal this season.

Rudolf Badenhorst said volumes are also down on last year, this mainly due to the bi-annual nature of mangoes.

"The climatic conditions during the growing season were not particularly good either, volumes this year will be down from last year's 65,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes. The season will come to a close at the end of March instead of April, but there may still be some fruit available into April."

The main growing region for mangoes is the Hoedspuirt area, where 50% of the volume is grown, the other producing regions are Levubu and Onderberg.

The traditional varieties are the Tommy Atkins, Kent and Keitt’s. Badenhorst explains that the Heidi variety is proving very popular on the South African market towards the end of the season and other new varieties are also being explored for the domestic and export trade.

"LARRY THE LIAR" HOPES TO SURVIVE DANIELLA MANGO RECALL FIASCO ...

IMO NOTE:

It started with a lie.

Almost one year later, Larry Nienkirk has yet to take "ownership" for falsely labelling Daniella Mangoes as "Primus Lab" certified.

Not only the mango box made this false claim but the fruit was individually stickered with the Primus Lab bar code misleading consumers to believe that Food safety and Traceability were a priority for Splendid Products.

As the "Poster Child" for the National Mango Board and it's "Chairman emeritus", Larry Nienkirk has not taken the first step in addressing Food safety. Rather "Larry the Liar" chose to engage in a high priced cover up (Hiring Washington D.C. Crisis management team) and deniability during the disastrous "Daniella mango recall" at the tail end of the 2012 Mexican mango season.

Perhaps the pending FDA investigation will shed some light as to what actually happened.

Nienkirk has tried to cover up his vertically integrated involvement in this fraudulent…
