AFRICAN DUST WILL CHANGE FLORIDA SKIES AS SAND BLOWS ACROSS THE ATLANTIC ....

The tropics look storm free for the next week.

Why?

Saharan Dust is headed towards the US.

If this dust holds.... Florida could see skies that are more orange than normal in a few days.

Above,  you can see the dust in red and pink which will get caught in the steering currents and move towards the west.

USA CONSUMER / RETAILER INTEREST WANES AS 2013 MEXICO YELLOW SKIN MANGO SEASON ENDS ...

Take a good look at the above Graph ... Interest in mangoes has died in USA as Ataulfo mango season comes to an end.

The IMO Blog has seen a dramatic reduction in viewership in the past two weeks....

The chart for July will indicate a 30% reduction over previous months ...

This because the USA market for Yellow Skin mangoes has ended and anticipation / interest died mid July 2013.

IMO BLOG Viewership reflects this fact as our core viewership is comprised of Retailers and consumers in the USA & CANADIAN, EUROPEAN Marketplaces.

As the USA market for mangoes tanks from a $5.00 per 4kg carton to the $2.50 - 3.00 range the market reflects this as well.

The USA consumer has finally voted.

The Hot water Treated Redskin mango is a DISASTER.

95 - 99% of the fruit that pays for the National Mango Board marketing effort is Hot Water Treated (HWT) Red Skinned Fruit.

This tells us that the CONSUMER does not buy into the Fraudulent effort by the National Mango Board (NMB) to present HWT mangoes as delic…

Maersk Line’s partner in the planned P3 collaboration and the world’s second-largest container carrier, Swiss MSC, has in the last few months surpassed all its rivals to amass the largest orderbook in the market.

The world’s second-largest container carrier and partner of Maersk Line and CMA CGM in the planned P3 alliance, Swiss MSC, has ordered enough newbuildings in the last two months to surpass both Maersk Line and Evergreen to become the carrier with the largest orderbook, a fact that could trigger counter reactions from competitors.

According to Alphaliner, this means that MSC is preparing a massive capacity increase that would result in the carrier approaching the size of Maersk Line, and this at a time when the container industry is struggling due to a huge surplus of new ships on routes from Asia to Europe, as well as low rates.

MSC has ordered new ships for a total of 473,000 teu since 2009, including 97,000 teu tha…

CULTURE OF FAILURE : China eyes food security options in Venezuela

by Staff Writers
Caracas, Venezuela (UPI) Jul 26, 2013

China is considering investment in Venezuela's agriculture industries as part of a global strategy to secure diverse sources of food supplies for its burgeoning population.

Senior Venezuelan officials announced after recent talks in Beijing Chinese investment could cover 30 million hectares of land in the Latin American country.

Venezuelan agriculture has suffered under frequent state interventions -- from outright nationalization to implementation of agricultural policies criticized as being removed from reality.

Oil-rich Venezuela is recovering slowly from a recession the government blames on weather vagaries, including frequent drought conditions. Opposition critics say state mismanagement of agriculture is partly to blame.

Venezuelan Vice President Jorge Arreaza indicates his talks in Beijing gave him hope joint ventures involving China could bring great benefit to a sector seen to be performing well before capacity.

The president of the Northern Territory Mango Industry Association says he's pleased to hear reports the first mangoes of the year are of good quality.

Ross Maxwell from Jabiru Orchards near Darwin says for the benefit of the wider mango industry it's crucial the first trays of the year eat well, so that consumers come back for more when the season really kicks into gear.

The first mangoes for 2013 hit the Sydney Markets this week, selling for up to $75 a tray.

It's a price which will entice many growers to send fruit down early. A temptation which in previous years has seen immature fruit picked and sold, which ends up being detrimental to the industry.

"The fruit that goes down there (early) has to be of good eating quality" says…
