The sun is gearing up for a major solar flip, NASA says.

In an event that occurs once every 11 years, the magnetic field of the sun will change its polarity in a matter of months, according new observations by NASA-supported observatories.

The flipping of the sun's magnetic field marks the peak of the star's 11-year solar cycle and the halfway point in the sun's "solar maximum" — the peak of its solar weather cycle. NASA released a new video describing the sun's magnetic flip on Monday (Aug. 5).

Art is personal, what one may love another dislikes.

One artist paints for money, another dances for free, while yet another strums the strings of a guitar on a street corner for the audience.

Art appeals to all our senses and when we connect with the art we find ourselves drawn to the artist, and then in return we get a glimpse of the artist that lies within ourselves.

On this clear warm summer morning here is a beautiful art showing, the gallery was the field, and the art hung from the trees waiting to be discovered.

We spent the day with Linden Andersen at his Keitt Mango farm in Coachella Valley, CA and it was nothing less than a breathtaking display of passion and beauty.

These Keitt Mangoes are already tasting great and they still had a week or so to ri…

KILLING THE GOOSE THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGG : COMPANIES MUST SHARE THE WEALTH ...

A customer... and a cost.

One of the big reasons the U.S. economy is so lousy is the American companies are hoarding cash and "maximizing profits" instead of investing in their people and future projects.

This behavior is contributing to record income inequality in the country and starving the primary engine of U.S. economic growth--the vast American middle class--of purchasing power. (See charts below).

If average Americans don't get paid living wages, they can't spend much money buying products and services. And when average Americans can't buy products and services, the companies that sell products and services to average Americans can't grow. So the profit obsession of America's big companies is, ironically, hurting their ability to accelerate revenue growth.

One obvious solution to this problem is to encourage companies to …

After the United States, Australia and New Zealand can now import Indian mangoes that have undergone a process known as irradiation.

While the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand has approved import of irradiated mangoes, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has also approved import of irradiated pomegranates from India.

“Irradiation is used as a quarantine treatment replacing chemical fumigants which is a pre requisite in these countries. Fumigants are banned in these countries since they react with the ozone layer,” said AK Sharma, head, food technology division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, which has developed the irradiation technology.

Sharma added, “Now exporters will have to come forward and place their orders for irradiated pomegranates at the Lasalgoan irradiation facility at Nashik.”

ParknShop sale looks a solid deal for Hutch shareholders

As the writer of the South China Morning Post’s Monitor column, Tom Holland attempts each day to make sense of the latest developments in business, finance and economic affairs in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Faithless! Just think of all the money we've all handed Li Ka-shing over the years, only for him scorn us like this.

Reports that Li-controlled conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa is pondering the sale of its ParknShop supermarket chain triggered howls of media outrage last week.

So shrill were the protests that Hutchison even felt obliged to deny that it was abandoning Hong Kong.

Yet despite the denial, don't be surprised if Hutch does indeed go ahead and sell ParknShop. There is a solid case for offloading the chain.
