THE SNOWDEN SAGA: Here's Everything We Know About The NSA's Nightmare Leak

MICHAEL KELLEY AND MIKE NUDELMAN

NOV. 14, 2013, 12:35 PM

It will take years to determine the true scope of the leak of the century, when former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden took up to 200,000 documents and fled to Hong Kong.

Since June 6, there has been a flood of news about NSA spying methods and targets, and more revelations may be yet to come.

There are also questions about Snowden himself, including his associations before the leak as well as what happened to him between the time he went rogue and the moment he landed in the jurisdiction of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB).

We have created a graphic to show the most important details about the leaks and the leaker:

It's clear at this point that the disclosures have exposed and embarrassed the Five Eyes, enraged citizens, and disrupted American ties with allies while U.S. adversaries have benefited.

OBESITY !!! : Watch America Grow Fatter, In One Scary GIF

By Chris Miles

 October 28, 2013

You can literally watch America's obesity epidemic spread.

This GIF, courtesy of the Center for Disease Control, displays the rapid progression of obesity rates nationwide through the a quarter century.

The map shows a progression between 1985 and 2010.

The images begin to display cool colors which represent states having upwards of 20% of their population overweight.

There is an overall trend for warmer colors to disperse all across the map, which indicate obese populations ranging from 20% to over 30%.

One interesting trend: There's a distinct presence of prominent and high obesity rates in Southern states.

The GIF ends at 2010, when the highest obesity levels have begun to stretch into the Midwest and Southwest.

The CDC defines clinical obesity as an adult having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or greater.

The BMI is calculated by using a person’s weight and dividing it by the square of their height.

According to the CDC, childhood obesity has more…

By Matt Craze

Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) — Cia. Sud Americana de Vapores SA surged the most in more than a year after Die Welt newspaper reported that Latin America’s largest container shipper is negotiating a merger with German rival Hapag-Lloyd AG.

The shares rose as much as 27 percent and closed up 13 percent to 28.53 pesos in Santiago, the biggest advance since March 1, 2012. Company executives met last month in Miami to discuss the tie-up, the newspaper reported on its website, citing a Hapag-Lloyd official that it didn’t name. Die Welt didn’t give proposed terms of the deal.

CSAV’s 86 percent loss in the past three years is the worst performance among peers tracked by Bloomberg as the industry struggles to recover from a slump in shipping rates. In response to a glut of new vessels, operators such as AP Moller-Maersk A/S are forming alliances with competitors to lower costs and eliminate excess capacity on trade routes.

France: First air freight Peruvian mangoes at Halls

The first consignment of this season’s Halls’ air-freight mangoes have landed in France from Peru and importer Halls reports exceptional quality.

Packed under the Halls brand, the Kent mangoes have excellent consistency of colour and sweetness across every carton, giving guaranteed flavour.

As the fruit has been allowed to ripen on the tree and is on the aeroplane within 24 hours, the maturity levels are correct on arrival and as such bears no comparison with sea freight mangoes.

Izam Afkir, Halls’ Product Manager for mango says, “We are still convinced this product is the best option for the consumer as each fruit tastes the same as the next so there can be no disappointment on purchase”.

The mangoes will be available on the French market as well as other European countries such as Holland, Germany, Italy and Russia.

There will be arrivals through this week until April. The fruit is available from Halls as a loose 6kg carton and as individually pre packed fruit. As is normal for the star…
