The kidnapping of a military general by FARC rebels operating in Colombia's Pacific state of Choco -- which led to the suspension of peace talks with the government -- has shone a spotlight on the organized crime dynamics present in the country's most valuable criminal real estate.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries kept output targets unchanged at a meeting in Vienna today even after this year’s slump in the oil price caused by surging supply from U.S shale fields.





American producers risk becoming victims of their own success. At today’s prices of just over $70 a barrel, drilling is close to becoming unprofitable for some explorers, Leonid Fedun, vice president and board member at OAO Lukoil (LKOD), said in an interview in London.

Desde hace un par de años ronda una carta anónima en Internet que nos explica de forma irónica el por qué los Latinos somos más ricos aquí en nuestra región que los viven en los EEUU, por lo que vemos en la red, la misiva la han recibido igual colombianos, venezolanos, así como argentinos, estamos seguros que lo mismo ha sucedido en otros países, y aunque podríamos encontrarnos con algunas diferencias entre ellas, en lo esencial esta no cambia, entendemos que cualquier latino podría recibirla y comprenderla inmediatamente. 


Por su contenido nosotros la hemos generalizado, compartimos aquí algunos de los párrafos, la misiva la dirigen a una persona en particular, empieza así:


“Como se ve que los árboles no te dejan ver el bosque. Cómo puedes llamarte pobre, cuando eres capaz de pagar por un galón de gasolina más del triple de lo que pago yo”.
